In 2009, Toyota launched the third generation of the Toyota Avensis at the Geneva Motor Show 2009 and the new gen went on sales at the beginning of 2010. The 2010 model is available in two different body types: sedan - to be debuted first - and station wagon - to be launched 6 months later.
Although the second generation brought the car brand a lot of benefits including the European Car of the Year award in 2004 and 156,000 sold units after its launch. Some may think that the Avensis design is wiping and has no dynamism. But the third generation will change their mind as it features a more ascending and dynamic sideline, a new grille and big head lights curved along the corners.

The wagon comes equipped with a 4-foot glass panel and a panoramic roof, instead of a metal roof. Some rumors showed that the gear of the Toyota Auris is inspired by the Avensis’.
It seems that there is no problem with Avensis technical part, so the car brand remains the engine lineup from its predecessor which is a diesel and a petrol engine. However, Toyota likely wanted to pamper this car as it added a hybrid version and an FWD variant at the same year of the launch.

The petrol engine includes the 2.0 and 2.4 direct injection, 1.8 VVT-i and 1.6 VVT-i. The diesel is the D-4D with a capacity of dishing out 125 hp. The Avensis whirs from 0-100km/h in a neck-snapping 10 seconds before topping out at 125 mph.

Speaking of the Toyota Avensis 2010 interior, both saloon and wagon versions offer a spacious cabin and excellent ergonomic and materials quality. Although the interior design is not something special it seems to be not out-of-date compared to other models. The cabin of the saloon version measures 509 L, almost equal to a BMW 7 Series while the wagon’s boot provides 534 L of space to the window line. The rear seats are foldable and they can widen the space up to 1609 L.

It was noticeable that the car offered not only the three aforementioned body styles but also an MPV version, back in 2001. The MPV was dubbed the Toyota Avensis Verso that provided a large room for seven passengers and only ran with 2.0 L engines. Especially, it won Australia's Best People Mover and became the only one Avensis version sold in the Australian market.

For the Avensis safety features, Toyota has equipped the car with a full and standard kit of safety features with considerable improvements like decreasing the windscreen pillars’ width to widen visibility and improve the stability control. The car is also adorned with brake assist systems, anti-lock brakes, standard ISOFIX child seat anchor points and seven airbags.

4. Toyota Avensis 2010 review: Behind the wheel
Avensis has a neat and sober design with clear and easy-to-use controls for sound and ventilation. The Avensis comes equipped with satellite navigation having large buttons combining touch-screen functions with either side of the display, making the dashboard look clear and well-arranged.
Two-tone color is used with the lighter tone on the panel and the lower part of the door, making the interior feel more luxurious. The driver’s position is almost ideal with a good range of adjustment, especially, the top-spec offers steering column and steering column for the driver.

5. Toyota Avensis 2010 review: Comfort
Being considered as the car that has a top quality interior, the Avensis 2010 boasts to comfort its passengers with peace as tyre noise and wind noise are unobtrusive. The Toyota Avensis 2010 interior is spacious enough for 5 adults. However, for those who have a height of 6 feet or over, the rear seats are more comfortable for them with adequate headroom.

Avensis has never been the best choice of those who love enjoyable driving experience, but with what the car was equipped and designed, it promises to satisfy most of the owners with comfort and sophistication.
