Is it error when my windows rolling down automatically?

Have you ever wondered why your car's power windows seem to be automatically winding down by itself? There is just one reason why this is happening to you.

As a car buyer especially in Nigeria, it is not very common to find someone buys a vehicle and then sit down to read the car's manual that came with it. The probability is even lower for a fairly used car (either Tokunbo or foreign-used).  This is because a lot of drivers feel they don’t have the time or maybe the car manual didn’t even come with the sale, especially for a fairly-used car.

The downside to this though is that there are procedures, operations, and functions that are written in the car manual for the driver. How will the driver know these things if he or she has not read the car manual?

Well, an example of such functions is the reason for this article as brought to you by Naijauto – your No. 1 online car sales portal in Nigeria.

The mystery burglar! Why the car windows rolling down automatically?

There is this story of a guy who came back home from work one day and parked his Honda car properly, making sure to lock everywhere before going into the house. Imagine the shock he had when he came out in the morning to find out that all the windows had been wound down. The bigger shock though was that nothing was missing from the car.

This is when a guy have his car window open over night

Now in this part of the world, it is typical to think that some village people might be playing a trick on you, rather than seeking the reason by maybe googling to research.

It might interest you to know that most car manufacturers have programmed the unlock remote of most cars to not just remotely unlock doors but to also remotely wind down power windows including sunroofs.

How does this work?

Yes, the good thing about this is that it’s quite an easy procedure to execute but if you do not read your car manual, you might not know except you are told.

The procedure is basically the same for most vehicles that have this feature but we will be taking the Honda cars. To remotely wind down all windows, press the unlock button, then hold the unlock button down and voila! All the windows roll down.

Taking Infinity vehicles as another example, push the unlock button twice and hold it down, and all four windows roll down, but if you press it once and hold it, just the front windows will be lowered.

You can watch the accompanying videos for some other vehicle brands.

Note that in later GM vehicles, you can disable the function with the screen, but such function is not available for earlier versions.

Final take!

So there you have it, you don’t have to ever worry that some village people are after you because you’ve found your windows all wound down when you wake up in the morning. It’s a simple procedure that works in almost every late model vehicle. To unlock, hold the button down, and the windows all roll down. Likewise, if you press the lock button and hold it down, all the windows will come rolling back up again.
