When you fasten your seat belt properly, it restrains you against serious injuries during collisions

Step 1

The very first thing you need to do is to make sure you sit inside your car with your hips and back tightly or firmly placed on the back seat. Make sure your car seat is not placed in an excessively reclined angle. This is because in any case of collision or accident, you may sustain serious injury.

Step 2

Make sure that the webbing is straightened; pull out the other end and insert it into the buckle portion. Hold it until you hear the clicking sound.

Step 3

Check if there is any slack in the belt by pulling a portion of the webbing from your tightened shoulder and releasing it lightly from the upper body. This simple process when properly done will prevent other part of your body hitting the car during heavy collision.

Step 4

You need to make adjustment on your seat belt to restrain your hips and back is located at the lower part. Also ensure that the belt crossing your shoulder is correctly adjusted. This means that it must pass under your neck and goes through the edge of your shoulder.

Step 5

You have to take note of where you rest your head too as it is very vital to your safety. Make sure the headrest is placed exactly at the centre of your head. This is a form of guard for your head against heavy collision.

Step 6

This is the final step. As a driver, make sure your shoulder is touching the seat while driving. Be on the lookout for any space between your shoulder and the seat. If there is, readjust your car seat uprightly.
