1. What is FRSC GIFMIS code?
It is important to uphold road safety in Nigeria especially with the poor conditions of the road network. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), being an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria, hold the responsibility to maintain safety among road users in the country. They have regulations stated out for road users and the penalties for defaulting on the road; there is more information on these regulations on the FRSC official website.
When a driver encounters a penalty which requires paying a fine, a Remita code is needed to ensure that such fine is paid to the central financial account of the Federal Government, otherwise known as GIFMIS.
Users may visit the FRSC website and find certain codes tagged to the penalty which they face here; it is important to note that those codes are not the Remita GIFMIS code to be used.

2. Purposes of GIFMIS Solution
The Nigerian Government adopted an IT system to handle general financial management for its ministries and agencies. This system is called the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System which shortens to GIFMIS. It was implemented in the year 2013 to help achieve transparent financial accounts and ensure that government agencies deliver effective reports.
According to gifmis.gov.ng, this solution is responsible for the following functions;
- Treasury accounting and management
- Budget planning and execution
- General financial records and reporting
- Project accounting
- Procurement functions which including Support for e-procurement, Commitments, Purchase Orders, and Maintenance of a central supplier register
- Receipting, Accounts Receivable and Revenue Management
- Payments and Accounts Payable
- Inventory and Stock Control
- Fixed Asset Management
The GIFMIS manages national expenditure planning and revenue collection using modern information and communication technology. It sends financial reports to a centralized recording medium for accounting and auditing by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The GIFMIS solution uses a Revenue Reference Number (RRN) to identify and account for the different revenues it collects through the agencies and ministries. This RRN is a 10-digit number that provided by the MDA to be paid for particular transactions to be recognized and interpreted by the system.

The Remita GIFMIS code for FRSC will be generated to complete such a payment, this code is the 12-digit Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) which is different from the Revenue Reference Number (RRN).
