3. Review on exterior of the Toyota Camry Muscle

The Toyota Camry Muscle is quite stylish but not sporty in all trims. You get the sporty feel in the SE and hybrid variants. It has a long wheelbase that's two inches more than what's in the previous version. There's also grille treatment, wider wheels, sloping pillars and sophisticated headlights. The front and rear deck lids are multilevel and easy to lift. The SE which is the most sporty comes with 17 inch wheels as against the standard 16 inch found in the other trims. The Muscle is 189 inches in length and 71 inches in width.

4. Interior and safety of Toyota Camry Muscle

The trunk has a really huge volume  and definitely bigger than what you find in the Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, BMW 3 series, Honda Accord and other rivals made in the same year. The seats are really comfortable and you have just enough room to contain 5 big adults. The rear seats are reclining seats in the XLE and there's the ever present tilt and telescoping steering wheel in all trims. There's the cup holders and user friendly controls on the cockpit. There's heated leather seats in the SE and XLE trims, and the back seats in all can be folded. There's also a moonroof feature, a good navigation system and an 8-speaker stereo.

Safety level

Amazingly, the Toyota Camry Muscle did well in the crash tests held by the NHTSA. It got a five star pass on frontal and side impact rating. This means you are relatively safe when a collision occurs - provided all features are working fine. There are options of traction control and stability control. They didn't become a standard till about 3 years after the muscle was launched. But you get to enjoy side curtain airbags and frontal airbags, airbags for the driver's knee NC anti-lock braking system.

5. Engine performance and fuel economy on Toyota Camry Muscle

Engine performance

There's a 2.4 liter DOHC 4 cylinder engine in the 2007 Toyota Camry. It has a 158 horsepower output. Though the 2010 version and above comes with an engine of more horsepower and liters, you can still go for a 3.5 liter V6 - it's optional. There's a timing chain in any your decide to go for, not the outdated timing belt. The V6 option comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission while the 4 cylinder engine has a 5-speed automatic transmission. Good enough, whether you go for the manual or automatic option, you still get same speed and mpg rating.

Fuel Economy

Talking about mpg rating, the Toyota Camry Muscle doesn't do badly. The automatic transmission 4 cylinder variant has a rating of 30 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city, while the manual car has 31 mpg on the highway and same rating with the automatic, in the city. This means with a 70 liter tank, you can drive almost 800 km. That's like Enugu to Calabar, without topping more fuel. Not bad!

6. Pros and cons of the Toyota Camry Muscle and tips for buying a good used car

Pros and cons of the Toyota Muscle

Just like almost all Toyota Camry cars are known for, the Muscle is a fuel economy vehicle. It's also spacious, has comfortable seats, large boot, safety systems that are really effective, it adapts to off road driving and has a high crash and reliability rating. But the interior materials aren't so perfect. The automatic transmission easily has issues with shifting and needs to be maintained more often than versions after. Asides the SE trim, the others also have basic styling. So if you're looking for a flashy and fast car, you may want to consider the Honda Accord. But if you want space, comfort and fuel economy, this Toyota Camry Muscle is worth every kobo. It's also quite affordable.

Things to look for when buying a used car

According to expert tips of buying used Toyota Camry, when you go to purchase a used Camry Muscle car, first thing to do is to test drive the vehicle. Remember what we said about faulty transmission? Check that out. If they car jerks then it needs to get fixed. There's also the possibility of having a failing ignition coil, driver's sun visor and badly adjusted moonroof. A lot of Camry Muscle drivers complained about poor acceleration and brakes that won't hold. Check that out too. If there are leaks, have them fixed. Then finally do a general check by your own mechanic. It's always advisable to change your spark plugs immediately you purchase the car.

Maintainance tips for Toyota Camry Muscle owners

According to expert tips for maintaining Toyota Camry, when you bring home a used one, make sure adjust the moonroof well enough so that it can actually serve its purpose. Fix the transmission issues immediately you notice them. Ensure all fluid levels are maintained especially the coolant. The vehicle tends to heat up after a long drive, so this comes in handy. Check for leaking water pumps and struts, which are a common problem with the vehicle. Check for vibrations from the brakes and the engine. Carry out routine maintenance and you'll be just fine.

7. Alternatives for Toyota Camry Muscle & Conclusion

If you seek only fuel mileage, then go for Altima. If you want style and speed, the Honda Accord is your best bet. For optimum handling, the Mazda 6 is ideal. However, you might just want to settle for a little bit of everything - that's where the Toyota Camry 2007 shows its muscle (no pun intended).
