Following the steps of the GLB-Class, CLA-Class and A-Class, Mercedes is redesigning its GLA-Class – the 2021 model. Plans are in the works to ensure that the new subcompact crossover hits the stands on December 11, 2019, as the latest entrant in Mercedes-Benz’s lineup of small cars.
The GLA is a luxury subcompact crossover
The automaker is sticking to the design framework of the previously redesigned models. But for little tweaks, the interior and exterior styling will be the same. This “copying” is indeed a great thing for the GLA, especially regarding its interior. If you have seen the A-Class’ interior, you would attest to the fact that it is indeed modern and sophisticated. It is far better than the GLA’s old-school cabin.

Going by the photo Mercedes shared as a teaser for the GLA’s prototype, proportions of the redesigned model look the same as those of the outgoing model. However, the new design offers refined taillights and headlights. It also has a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, producing 221 horsepower along with 258lb-ft of torque. Users will get options of a 4matic all-wheel drive and a front-wheel drive.
The GLA’s AMG-tuned variants will take a cue from the GLA35, offering its turbo-four 302 horsepower just like the CLA35 and A35, as well as the GLA45.
The December debut will be done online, and will involve only the non-AMG models. The automaker is expected to put out more details including the GLA-Class price before then.
