Some of you guys might know already that the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe model is actually a facelifted variant of Mercedes’ fastest production SUV but believe it or not, Naijauto reviews all models of new and older automobiles that we find fascinating enough.
2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe – What are the changes?
Just like all the other range of GLC models, the super-hot AMG 63 and the 63 S have been really treated to a fine mid-life “nip & tuck” which clearly extends to additional mind-blowing driver modes, upgraded infotainment and visible cosmetic tweaks.
On the outside, these changes are relatively subtle with both of the GLC Coupe and the regular GLC itself. The GLC Coupe is the one in the spotlight of this article and it has got some really nice features like fresh wheel (alloy) designs with an optional 21-inch wheelset, a real natty pair of incredible trapezoidal tailpipe type surround system, revised tail-lights, prominent grille, and sleeker headlights (LED).

The new GLC 63 S Coupe packs in the A-Class-influenced digital dial pack with the latest MBUX infotainment system. It also features the latest Mercedes’ design for the steering wheel, and a complete bewildering array of switches and buttons but overall still feels nice and looks good when driving in the car.
On the mechanical side, only small changes were made. The AMG 63 and the 63 S, now come standard with adaptive dampers and the multi-chamber air springs as they make use of a limited-slip differential that is electronically controlled. Power channelling is handled by the 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission and the AWD 4Matic+ system that is capable of sending torque to anywhere it is needed in the vehicle.

You get up to five intelligently controlled drive modes in the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe
The main difference to be noted is that the transmission is now directly linked to the smart AMG Dynamic Software which does not only just offer the normal Sport+, Sport, Comfort, and Race (S models) driving modes alone but also adds a new “Slippery” setting to cater for any slippery condition like snow and heavy downpours. These modes also combine in the background and/or run separate programs like the Master (Race mode), Pro (Sport+ mode), Advanced (Sport), and Basic (Slippery & Comfort) thereby delivering way more aggressive kind of torque split just as a driver clicks through each of the driving modes.
2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe – How’s the driving experience?
First, you might be excited to know that Mercedes has left the engine alone by retaining the same hand-built, effective 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 “hot-vee” corker in this GLC 63 S Coupe. This incredible engine at just 1750rpm delivers a nice 503bhp and a 553 lb-ft of torque.
When making a comment about what’s under the hood of this GLC 63 S, Mercedes says;
"The 63 S also benefits from adaptive engine mounts that stiffen in the sportier driving modes for greater steering precision."
This 63 S Coupe will really shock most drivers when they realize how composed and quick it could be given its 1945kg portly kerb weight.
It has got a raised kind of driving position that helps a driver get a better view of the surface which he rides on and its carbon-ceramic brakes (optional) plus the level at which a driver can easily reel in various twisting sections of the road is overall just astonishing.

You get to enjoy a better view of the road with the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe’s raised driving position
The Sport+ and Sport modes are simply the best for quick road work as the tautening of the springs and dampers helps to offset the vehicle’s higher centre of gravity rather than inconsiderable mass. Both drive modes also kind of add some sort of welcome heft to the SUV’s otherwise “mute” steering wheel, give life to the throttle just a bit and also put the transmission on higher alert – however, most drivers will probably still prefer to use the paddles to pop the shifts themselves 😊.
2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe – More about the interior
The obviously overhauled interior is definitely one of the other highlights of the GLC 63 S. The newly added MBUX info system has now been well integrated to feature a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and both features really help lift the vehicle’s interior to ooze a classier type of ambience.

Although the popular “Hey Mercedes” voice control might still be “gimmicky” a little bit in some other Mercedes cars, it surprisingly works very well in this 63 S just as the featured AR satellite navigation directions too which overlay onto the vehicle’s front camera view once you approach any junction. It’s really neat and overall satisfying.
The 2019 GLC63s AMG Coupe is a $95,000 BEAST!
We really think that this 2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe is definitely going to resonate with customers that are looking for a family sort of SUV that is modern but not really super high-end. Overall, it’s just another nice ride from the “never-disappointing” German automaker Mercedes.
