Lamborghini is transforming the Urus ST-X into a racing car, preparing for the 2020 debut. Various changes will need to be made for this purpose, including the removal of 550 kg out of its body. Read more below!

Lamborghini is giving its esteemed customers something to look forward to in 2020. The automaker is transforming the Lamborghini Urus ST-X into a race car. This should not be a surprise especially as cars like the Hummer H1 are toeing the same line.

The new Urus ST-X will be equipped with racing car features

Granted, the ST-X SUV is big in size, and would not ordinarily be a racing vehicle. Still, with the changes Lamborghini is making, it will be a strong contender in that department. Majority of the changes will be made to the car’s hardware. Once done, the heavyweight it currently has will be significantly reduced, making it light enough to give other racing cars a run for their money. Lamborghini has stated that the new Urus will shed 550 kg or 1,212 pounds. With that out of the way, it will come down to a trim 1,650 kg.

How is this possible?

Lamborghini is not bluffing about the weight loss. The automaker has devised a strategy to achieve that. This entails using carbon fiber for most parts of the car, especially in the rear wing and hood areas. Taking a shift from the standard model of the Urus, this racing model will channel more air to the hood. It will be equipped with an exhaust for racing. There will also be a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, producing 650 horsepower as well as 627 pound-feet of torque.

By the looks of it, you can tell that the Urus' speed will to topnotch

Taking a cue from the Verde Mantis scheme of paint used by Squadra Corse, the ST-X will adopt a green shade against red accents. There are no pictures of the interior yet, but the automaker has disclosed that the cockpit will be refurbished. Obviously, it will have racing seats too. Users will also be provided a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire.

Nothing has been said about the performance of the ST-X. But since it will be a racing car, it only makes sense that the performance will be highly improved on, especially as the weight will be greatly reduced.

The Urus will get refurbished hardware

Grand unveiling of the Lamborghini ST-X is scheduled to take place at the Super Trofeo World Finals going down in Italy come 2020.
