The least expected Manual transmission will be offered on the new Aston Martin Vanquish, which the automaker believes will stand out despite recent stick-shift fade.

Looks like we will be getting manual transmission on the new Aston Martin Vanquish mid-engine.

Andy Palmer, Aston Martin chief executive, was asked if stick-shift will be offered on the new model. Although, he didn’t really give a straight response, it seems he is looking forward to a manual transmission option.

Aston Martin has an untainted reputation for astonishing designs. Guess this new Vanquish isn't an exception

Palmer said:

“I’ve already made a commitment that I want to be the last manufacturer in the world to offer manual sports cars and I want to honour that commitment,”

In recent years, there have been drift from manual transmission by high performing car in the chase of faster lap times and quicker acceleration.  The Aston Martin Vanquish older generation was exclusively sold with six-speed automatic during its early years. From 2014 onwards, the default transmission has been the eight-speed automatic.

Despite preference given to automatic transmission on previous versions, the new Vanquish is coming with stick-shift

Many might find it odd seeing manual transmission on a high performing car like the Vanquish, but the automaker has disclosed that the latest model of Vanquish will be more driver-focused and quicker than earlier versions. The fact that it is coming with stick-shift is evidence of uniqueness, especially amidst rival models such as Ferrari F8 Tributo and McLaren 720S with only dual-clutch.

Palmer was also asked if such a manual system would be deployed on the Aston Martin Valhalla, he replied:

“no, now that car will only come with a paddleshift transmission.”

The coming Vanquish will offer a V6 twin-turbocharged engine with a small electric motor, making use of an aluminum platform. The automaker hasn’t yet revealed the amount of grunt it will have, but we are guessing something around 800 horsepower should be feasible for this upcoming Aston Martin Vanquish!
