Mercedes wows customers in a recent video showcasing a new Head-Up display with Aug. Reality feature in its latest S-Class model

According to reports, this new HUD system featured in the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will have similar functionalities with the regular HUD systems but only add Augmented reality as an “icing on the cake”.

The new HUD is expected to display information relating to the speed of the car, status of radar cruise control as well as tell if lane-keeping Assist is enabled or not. However, the HUD featured in the new S-Class will make use of some virtual distance elements whenever the vehicle’s Active Distance Assist feature is enabled.

Below is the Facebook video shared by Mercedes which previews this new HUD system in action;

Just as demonstrated in the above video, the new HUD system will feature red warning lines that are animated whenever a driver begins swerving out of his/her lane.

However, the most mesmerizing feature of the new HUD is the Augmented Reality-driven Navigation function. As you have probably seen in the video, the innovative feature basically uses a nice selection of blue-coloured arrows that looks and feel like they are actually moving ahead of the car while floating on the road itself.

Whenever the car approaches a turn, the arrows fly off right into the distance ahead to give a driver a calculated target area where he/she should turn the car. And once a driver reaches the final destination initially inputted in the vehicle’s navigation system, a beautiful geo-location pointer appears on the HUD pin-pointing that location. Super-cool, isn’t it?
