As car lovers all over the world anticipate the coming Geneva Motor Show; some of the world’s top automakers, including Hyundai, have begun showcasing their latest cars. Recently, the South Korean auto giant unveiled its new 2021 Hyundai i20 compact hatchback which comes with new design and car technologies.

This is the newly debuted 2021 Hyundai i20 compact hatchback – a cute portable car, isn’t it?

Many people don’t know that the older versions of this Hyundai i20 hatchback model used to be available here in Nigeria until poor sales got distributors and car dealers to reduce importing it in numbers. However, the newer design and modern tech available in this 2021 model might end up being the game-changer for some Nigerian customers to show more interest in this Hyundai model.

 2021 Hyundai i20 compact hatchback – What’s new?

First, the overall exterior styling of this new Hyundai i20 model is both fresh and familiar as the current Hyundai design language is fond of edgy lines at their vehicle’s front fascia and then balanced with a wide grille. This new i20 hatchback’s beltline still remains prevalent in its profile and well connected with a new form of quarter-window at the vehicle’s C-pillar.

Moving on, at the back of this new car, one will notice the full-width LED lamp that connects its new taillights which are mounted in the fresh “hatch” design that obviously looks cleaner than the previous model.

This 2021 Hyundai i20 model is undoubtedly larger than the older model as it is now 24mm lower, 5mm longer, and 30mm wider. It also comes with a wheelbase that is increased by 10mm in order to provide more passenger space while the boot of the new model is also slightly bigger as its rated to be roughly 351-liters.

When it comes to the interior part, Hyundai has only released a sketch of it but promises that it will be way more advanced compared to the outgoing model. The auto giant says that the 2021 model will come with a 10.25-inches digital instrument screen and option to choose a 10.25- or 8-inch infotainment system as well. With the released sketch, one could already notice some “horizontal blades” just below the vehicle’s infotainment system which flows into the traditional air vents. Also, one could see contrasting color accents, LED ambient lighting, and new toggle switches. Some other notable highlights that will surely come with this new model include a Bose (premium) audio system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto (wireless) support as well as a wireless smartphone charger.

Lastly, the power to be expected from this new Hyundai i20 compact hatchback is between 99hp to 118hp as it comes with a 1.2L 4-cylinder engine mated with a 5-speed manual transmission system. There will also be a version provided with an optional 1.0L GDi 3-cylinder engine as well as an additional 48V mild-hybrid powertrain if needed by any customer. Some sources also claim that customers can get shifting duties handled by a new six-speed “intelligent” manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch type which will intelligently disconnect the transmission system from the vehicle’s engine whenever the throttle is lifted by the driver.
