Toyota unveils 2020 Land Cruiser Namib for South African market

Naijauto has often praised the wide acceptance of the Toyota Nigeria but now we see that the Japanese automaker is also taking South Africa by storm especially with its new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Namib SUV.

How much is a 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Namib?

Currently, in the United States, the Toyota Land Cruiser SUV is pegged at a ₦30.8 million ($85,315) starting price which makes it one of the automaker’s most expensive vehicles on the U.S auto market as of today. In fact, the Heritage Edition of the SUV is even priced higher at ₦31.6 million ($87,645) although, it is undeniably among the top-performing off-roaders in the U.S for now.

In a complete twist, the new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Namib truck is currently rocking the South African market at a more affordable price. The 79 4.5D V8 D/C Namib truck version of the popular SUV is a special edition variant that is based on the old retro-styled Land Cruiser 70 series. It carries a South African 893,600-Rand price tag, which is approximately ₦22 million ($61,000).

The 2020 Land Cruiser Namib has got all it takes to conquer African rugged terrains

Remarkable upgrades on 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Namib

The name “Namib” of this double-cab pickup truck is inspired by one of the world’s largest and oldest deserts – the Namib Desert.

This new 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Namib pickup truck comes with some noticeable exterior enhancements such as a Namib badging, new steel front bumpers that have integrated type of heavy-duty headlight protectors and nudges bar as well as a newer mesh design with Toyota lettering for the front grille.

On the inside, this new Land Cruiser Namib features quite a lot of visible upgrades over the regular Land Cruiser 70 series that many people are used to. Some of these upgrades include:

  • Glove box that comes with additional cooling duct to help keep a passenger’s drink very cool via the truck’s AC system
  • A new type of roof console that has rear-facing LED spotlights
  • Microphone cord hook
  • Additional storage compartments/spaces


The new pickup truck has quite a lot of upgrades internally that makes it special

Some of the other cool off-road features of this new Land Cruiser Namib includes

  • Upgraded Suspension
  • Larger Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires (265/75/R16) with white lettering
  • 4.5L diesel engine supplying 202hp (151kW) with 317 lb-ft (430Nm) of torque
