BMW is in a celebration mood again. Only a few days ago, the German automaker announces to launch the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe in June, 2019. And now, the company is celebrating the 35th birthday of the epochal M5. Of course, you know the anniversary wouldn't be complete without revealing a car to symbolize it. The car released is the 2020 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years.
Your car companion, Naijauto saw this coming. The model shares some features with the BMW M5 Competition. It’s coming, fitted with the same turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that has 617 horse power at 6,000 rpm. The torque is 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) and it ranges from 1,800 to 5,860 rpm. With this, the powerful sedan can accelerate to 60 mph (that is 96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds and it gets to also accelerate to 124 mph (200 km/h) in just 10.8 seconds.
For its exterior looks, the M5 Edition 35 Years is exclusively painted with matte Frozen Dark Grey II, a creation of BMW Individual. The car is furnished with a 20-inch M light alloy wheels coated in Graphite Grey. The brake calipers got a new gloss black color, while the M5 badge was removed from the trunk lid.

The sedan has an attention-grabbing cabin. The interior features a sports leather seat finished in black Merino (by BMW Individual) with a unique beige contrast stitching. The beige stitching isn't what grabs your attention though. It’s the gold anodized aluminum structure adorning the dashboard, center console and door panel. Also available is a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster matched up with the 10.3-inch center display, which was first featured on the BMW 8-Series and BMW X5. On the center console and door sill plates is an engraved inscription that reads "M5 Edition 35 Jahre".

The 350 units of the limited-edition BMW M5 model slated to be produced will be furnished with the M Driver's Package and Executive Package as standard.
The Executive Package comprises of a power rear sunshade, soft-close automatic doors, rear side window shades, 4-zone automatic climate control, front ventilated seats, front massaging seats, etc.
Featured in the M Driver's Package is the electronic speed limiter which raised the top speed from 155 mph (that's 250km/h) to 189 mph (at 304km/h). Also Included is a voucher that'll be used to attend M Driver's School at any of BMW Performance Centers in Thermal or Spartanburg.

Other upgrades coming with the car is an M sports exhaust system, the new BMW Live Cockpit Professional and the iDrive 7 operating system.
Out of the 350 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years, only 35 units will be pushed out to the US market with the selling price of $128,995 (₦46.5 million). Included is the gas guzzler tax and destination fees.
