Zamfara SSG’s brother was arrested by EFCC with N60m cash in car boot

So much money moving around! See how the EFCC arrested a brother of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government with N60 million in his car boot!

An intelligent report led to the arrest of a suspected politician by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the Sokoto Zonal office on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. The suspect was caught with sixty million naira and other incriminating items in the boot of his car.


The suspect is identified as Murtala Muhammad - brother to SSG of Zamfara

According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had received an intelligence report about the suspect’s money laundering antics. Identified as Murtala Muhammad, the suspect is said to be a brother to Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi who is the Secretary to Zamfara State Government. EFCC operatives made the arrest at No.145 Igala Housing Estate, off Byepass Road, Gusau, Zamfara State.

Scene of the arrest: N60 million was found in the car boot

Following his arrest, the commission recovered some items from him including a Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep (Black) with the plate number DKA 67 PX Kaduna and four Ghana Must Go bags which contained fifteen million naira each in one thousand naira notes, making a total sum of sixty million naira. Other items recovered from the suspect include a locally made pistol, single barrel gun, cartridges of 12 rounds and 12.9mm live ammunition (12 rounds).
