According to media reports, the angry Abia community women and youths carried different placards as they sang war songs to call on NDDC to come to complete the two abandoned road projects in their area. A certain Adindu Johnson who is said to be a youth leader told the press that SACON Engineering is the name of the contractor company that has abandoned the road project for over 3 years now. Adindu Johnson alleged that the people of the community had many times in the past called on the contractors to complete the road project and all they usually get are “empty” promises.
Reports also claim that a certain woman leader in the affected community revealed that the bad roads in the area usually makes it difficult for many businesswomen in the area to transport their agricultural produce to sell in urban parts of Abia State. In a collective voice, the angry women and youths are calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to instruct the NDDC to see to it that the contractor comes back to the site to complete the abandoned road projects.
