WurlD doing his favourite thing...
Sadiq Onifade who goes by the stage name WurlD is a Nigerian singer and songwriter who has successfully found for himself a priced niche in the Nigerian music space. He was born in Lagos Nigeria on the 2nd of January 1987 to a polygamous dad who married two wives. He grew up in Lagos and completed his basic education there before moving to the United States of America for his undergraduate education.
His undergraduate study saw him take on a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Computer Sciences at the Georgia State University, Atlanta before completing a Masters of Science (M.SC) in Information Technology at the same University.
However, his time in the US was when his love for music became very much real to him and he consciously began to pursue it. This love for music was very much kindled by the people around him who were involved in the music industry in some way. Before long, he was finding himself more than often at music studios and music video sets.
However, he had to finish his degree studies. In his own words,
I could not stop myself from going into music, even back in school, I would go to talent shows right after my classes and really just stay involved and learn every day.
I owed it to my parents to finish college, I have a masters degree as well, I made the transition more into music when I felt I could do it full time

WurlD Music Career
Sadiq Onifade aka WurlD's music journey followed a very much predictable route like most established acts today. He started off from the bottom with a not so fancied single and then worked his way up with the help of some experienced music people. His very first single "Beyond our Dreams" was released back in 2012 while his first Extended Play "Evolution" was released the next year.
Interestingly, WurlD regards his music as being of the Electro-Fusion genre. This brand of music is probably down to his work with diverse artists doing different genres of songs, from Hip Hop to RnB, to Afrobeats and the rests. A good example is his work with Hip Hop rappers Scotty ATL and B. O. B in the song "Fantasies", as well as that with RnB polish singer Gromee in the song "Follow You".
On the Electro Fusion genre, WurlD said and I quote,
So the electronic fusion, as a songwriter, I find myself in different rooms working with R&B artists, rappers, so it was really hard for me to do just one genre of music.
It starts as far back as being a child listening to Fuji music, Juju, Afrobeats, so I was literally taking all these vibes in and so the fusion is just me putting it all together and that for me makes me satisfied
On the Afrobeats end of the channel, WurlD has collaborated with several top Nigerian artists and producers. Top on the list of Nigerian collaborations and probably his most popular is his work with Davido in the song Sweet in the Middle" which also featured superstars like Naira Marley and Zlatan. He has also done music projects with the likes of LeriQ, DJ Spinal, DJ Cuppy, Chill Bops, etc.
Anyway, WurlD has released 3 full studio EPs and a deluxe version in the almost 10 years he has been doing music professionally. He has also released a number of singles. His most popular song still remains "MAD", a project he did in collaboration with award-winning producer Sarz. Interestingly, Sarz also produced the most popular song of another Nigerian artist this time a female, Niniola.
Below is a list of some of his songs which you can listen to on YouTube or other music streaming sites,
