A generator repairer identified as Dare Olateju was recently arrested in Ogun by the harmonized Vigilante Group for trying to steal a car worth around 7 million nairas. The car in question is a 2014 Toyota Camry belonging to Car-mart, a dealership located at Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, the capital city of the state.
The generator repairer was nabbed by the Ogun State Harmonized VGN for stealing a vehicle
The 26-year-old Olateju was reported to have allegedly used charm on 2 workers at the dealership, hypnotizing them to give him the car key without their knowledge, which has been denied by him. He was stopped by another worker within the premises at the point when he was about to drive out in the stolen vehicle.
Seeing that he was about to be nabbed, the generator mechanic opened the car door and jumped over the fence in an attempt to escape. From what we learnt, the suspected car thief was chased down by people around the area, later to be handed over to the men of the harmonized Vigilante Group.
Shola Shodiyan, who happens to be the state coordinator of the harmonized VGN, revealed yesterday that the incident took place last Saturday. They were lucky enough to apprehend this suspected car thief before he made away with such an expensive car. A similar incident recently took place in Imo State where a roadside mechanic ran off with customer's Toyota Camry.
