New press reports have confirmed that Nigerian Security operatives recently arrested ten crew members alongside a vessel named “MT Morris” in the Niger Delta zone for crude oil theft. According to the reports, the arrested suspects were allegedly stealing crude oil directly from a trunk line belonging to AITEO in Degema L.G.A, Rivers State.

During the last PNC (Practical Nigerian Content) forum, Victor Okoronkwo – the Managing Director of AITEO initially lamented over the company’s loss of crude oil of about 4 million barrels to oil theft specifically at the NCTL (Nembe Creek Trunk Line). And now again, the same company is being targeted by the recently arrested crude oil thieves.

Press reports claim that the security operatives at the Bille Kingdom who were on a surveillance patrol at night spotted the suspected thieves and immediately notified the JTF Sector 3 in Rivers state as well as the NSCDC. This led to the swift response and eventual arrest of the thieves and their vessel before any of them could escape. The security agencies are currently interrogating the arrested suspects and have claimed that they have already confessed to stealing crude oil from the trunk line belonging to AITEO.
The press reports also have it that both the suspects and their vessel have now been moved to the JTF Sector 3 headquarters where their case will be handled further. Below is a list of names of some of the names of the suspects as published by THE SUN;
