A local community in Pakistan was thrown into mourning a few days ago when two express trains collided with each other and resulted in the death of about 40 people. This heartbreaking incident occurred during the early hours of Monday 7th of June 2021 at Ghotki town in Sindh, Pakistan. Press reports claim that a large number of passengers trapped in the two crashed trains were crying for help as few of them kept trying to climb out of the overturned railway cars.

According to media sources, the Pakistani government deployed military troops, helicopters and heavy machinery to the scene of the incident to help rescue some of the passengers trapped inside the overturned railway cars. Mr Umar Tufail, the police chief in the district where the accident happened said that responders faced serious challenges when they were trying to rescue the accident victims on that day.
When reacting to the news of this horrific incident, the Pakistani prime minister – Imran Khan reportedly ordered experts to begin investigating the cause of such a fatal crash. Similarly, he has also ordered that the railway safety fault lines across the nation should be comprehensively investigated. As of the time of writing this report, railway officials only revealed that 1,100 passengers were involved in the fatal train crash. All other details of the incident have been kept hidden by the Pakistani railway officials till now.
