Truck crushes bus, allegedly kills all 13 passengers on expressway [VIEWER DISCRETION]

A total of 13 persons were killed in a road crash involving a truck and a bus. The fatal crash occurred on Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway.

A total of thirteen passengers aboard a commercial bus en route Ilorin met their untimely deaths when a truck collided with their vehicle along Ogbomoso-Ilorin Expressway on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Naijauto gathered that the said truck suddenly suffered a brake failure while driving on a hilly road. Unable to control its brakes, the vehicle started rolling backward. The passenger-bus was reported to be close behind the truck. Hence, there was not much that could be done to avert the collision.

According to reports by eyewitnesses, all passengers on the bus died instantly due to the gravity of the crash. However, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Oyo State, Uche Chukwurah, disclosed that only six persons died while the other seven sustained severe injuries. This was the situation report when her officers arrived at the accident scene.  Chukwurah further stated that the injured persons were rushed to a hospital to receive medical attention while corpses of the deceased were deposited at the morgue.
