We have reported several stories where multiple vehicles were involved in fatal road crashes. Sometimes, these road mishaps claimed lives or left some people with lifelong injuries. It becomes a bit strange when you realize that road accidents do not only involve cars but sometimes trains as well. According to new traffic reports reaching us, tragedy was averted when a bus crashed into a moving train at Ilupeju Bye-pass in Lagos on Tuesday, May 10. From what we learned; it was the timely intervention of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) that saved the day. Perhaps, many lives would have been lost in what appeared to be a big disaster and an uncommon road accident.
A Toyota bus recently crashed into a moving train at Ilupeju Bye-pass in Lagos State
Upon the arrival of LASEMA officials, it was discovered that the accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number EKY 888 XW and a train in the Ilupeju area of Lagos State. Just like our earlier suspicion, the accident was said to be caused by a bus driver who was driving recklessly at the time. Further reports coming from the scene, state that the bus driver ignored the instruction given by the traffic at the railway crossing, and ended up ramming into the moving train. Luckily, no life was lost except for two adult males that sustained minor injuries. The injured victims received first aid treatment from the LASEMA's medical team before they were taken to the General Hospital for proper medical attention.

A light tow truck was used to recover the blue Toyota bus from the railway
LASEMA’s tow truck was used to recover the Toyota bus from the railway and was sent to the Railway Police Station in Mushin. The railway was also restored to resume train operations in the area. LASTMA officials, men from the Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, were all present at the crash site.
