The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected robbers for carrying out operations in traffic, displacing motorists of their possessions.
According to a statement signed by Bala Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, an Ipaja Police Station surveillance patrol team arrested a young man, Shefiu Aliu, along Ayobo-Ipaja road as he tried to steal handbags and mobile phones from two women, Deborah Williams and Grace Williams.
The PPRO disclosed that the suspect falsely presented himself as one riding a motorcycle popularly referred to as Okada, and preyed on their eagerness to avoid the heavy traffic in the area by using Okada. Following his arrest, the suspect owned up to committing the crime. The police recovered the motorcycle he used for his crimes as well as a machete hidden under the motorcycle’s seat, away from the eyes of his unsuspecting victims.

“The Motorcycle was also recovered with one machete, one knife and a locally made pistol. Suspects will be charged to Court,” he added.
