On the 20th of May 2020, the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) posted a new campaign that announced the Toyota RAV4 recall. The contents of the recall notice stated that the front (lower) suspension arms of the affected RAV4 models may have cracks which could later lead to the arm separating from the entire assembly of the vehicle’s front wheel.
The recall document further stated that rapid deceleration and acceleration of these affected cars will eventually lead to the described problem. This means that by just driving the affected units over time, the problem might be inevitable regardless of the region or driving expertise of the owner. The NHTSA announcement records that 2,172 units of the Toyota RAV4 hybrids and 7,330 units of the regular Toyota RAV4 are affected. Also, these units are the ones specifically produced between the 25th of September 2019 and the 29th of October 2019.
The reports state that this new Toyota RAV4 recall will officially commence on the 12th of July 2020. Also, it is further stated in the report that Toyota will get in touch with affected owners and respectively have the defective vehicle parts replaced at no extra cost.
