Toke Makinwa was born in Lagos on the 3rd of November, 1984 to parents Caleb Makinwa and Modupe Makinwa. Unfortunately, her parents were involved in a fatal house fire that claimed their lives when Toke was just 8 years of age. Fortunately, Toke who is the second of 4 siblings was taken in by a relative Mr and Mrs Akinyelure and guarded through those tumultuous early days.

Toke did her secondary education at the prestigious Federal Government Girls College FGGC, Owinni Hills, Oyo. After completing her secondary school education, Toke would then move on to the University of Lagos where she bagged a degree in English and Literature. 

In 2014, Toke Makinwa would tie the knot with her long time partner Maje Ayida in a small and private ceremony. We all were excited for her especially as she was getting married to a man who had been in her life for over 8 years. However, things didn't go as planned and just within a year, the couple was already separated and heading for a divorce.
