The driver of the SUV fled the scene after running over #EndSARS protesters in Lagos

From what we learnt, the victims of this unfortunate incident were quickly taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment. The driver of this SUV was nowhere to be found after he ran into the crowd of protesters. As a result, the angry mob retaliated by descending on the car as well as another Keke said to be involved in this incident.

For quite sometimes now, the Nigerian youths have been clamouring for the end of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), accused of engaging in series of extra-judicial killings, extortion, brutality, gross violation of human rights and harassment of young people.

Here is a clip giving an insight into the recent attack on End SARS protesters by hoodlums around Alausa Area of Lagos:

In response to the calling on government to dissolve this anti-crime unit of the police force through mass protests, Adamu Mohammed, who happens to be the Inspector General of Police, made an official announcement confirming the dissolution of the unit and the birth of a new unit known as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), as a needed replacement to fill the gap left behind.

Governor Sanwo-Olu has also lent his voice to the demands of Nigerian youths on reforming the police

The replacement didn’t go down well with Nigerian youths who are still agitating for the dissolution of the new group and total reformation of the police force.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the protesters to stay calm on the current issue while giving the government time to meet their demands. He, however, appealed to the Nigerian youths that their recent activities have been affecting businesses and traffic within the state.
