Nigeria is not one of the countries that encourage you to explore the power of fast cars because of the limiting bad roads that never give you a chance to throttle down for long but still, we love and buy fast cars because of the respect and honor it makes people give to us. I feel like a Nigerian car lover doesn't mind a slow car that looks fast because really, where is he speeding to? That's why I came up with a series of cars that we see daily in Nigeria that look very fast but are slower than snails.
This car has been the oldest car deceiving us with its looks. When I first saw this car as a child, it immediately became a dream car until one day I checked the engine specs and discovered it was powered by a 1.8 litre 4-cylinder engine producing a maximum of 140hp what!!!, meaning this car would do 0 to 60 in nothing less than 6 seconds. The last-generation Celica looks the sportiest and in my opinion, they should have given it at least a V6 because it looks like it competes with the Nissan 350Z. I have been mad at Toyota based on the Celica.
The Toyota Celica is neither performance or sports car
I have friends that always ask how fast a Celica is because they want to buy one just to join the fast car owner association in Nigeria. They are always very confused when I tell them the car is neither a performance car nor a sports car. It's just a cosmetic sports coupe by Toyota.
I used to think Porsche cars are strictly supercars when I was younger but I was wrong. The 2010 Porsche Cayenne is the slowest SUV I have driven in my entire life. It had a 3.6-litre V6 engine producing about 300hp. The good thing with the Cayenne is that you still have the option of getting a V8 engine with the TURBO/GTS variant. Porsche made a slow version just to make sales, it was the only SUV in their line up and they needed everybody to be able to afford and maintain one.
Don't be fooled by the brand name, it's actually not a fast car

This car looks superfast. It seems like the perfect performance car a female car enthusiast can ever own from a non-luxury car manufacturing brand with its signature 2-tone paint scheme. You get two boring engines for this car and they are both 4 cylinders. One is a 1.6-litre engine.
Though its aerodynamics looks great, it's not a car with high speeds
The Veloster is one of those cars that should have special models developed by a motorsports company but Hyundai has none. I would have bought one for my mother if there was a performance variant but I guess I have to especially rebuild one for her and that would take too much time so I would just look at something else for her.

Hyundai loves this category and it's not a good record for the brand. The Tiburon got me when it lost a power tussle to a Lagos Danfo bus right in front of me. How would a Danfo outrun a sports coupe car? I was very shy for Hyundai on that day. The car looks like it can compete with a Porsche Boxter but its 2.7L V6 engine produces the only 172hp.
Putting on the appearance of a racing car, the Hyundai Tiburon isn't comparably fast
The new-generation Mazda 6 looks like Mazda wanted to give us a Dodge Charger kind of car but nahhhhh, they gave the car a standard 2.5L 4 cylinder engine. The engine just downgrades the sporting ability of this carefully crafted family sedan. Their goal was to build an appealing family car.
Smooth curves and sharp curvations don't make it real fast
