It is almost impossible to deny that time is changing at a fast pace and so is car technology all over the world. Just recently, the popular Czech automaker, ŠKODA AUTO showcased a new type of self-driving car technology that seems brilliant and practical. This technology was reportedly developed by ŠKODA AUTO in conjunction with Technical University of Ostrava and VSB. This amazing self-driving car tech comprises of a human-operated car tagged as “Master” and a second car tagged as the “Slave” which autonomously follows the first one.
ŠKODA has revealed a new tech which enables a "slave" car to autonomously follow a human-operated "Master" car
Based on media reports, this new autonomous car technology project by ŠKODA AUTO is officially called “Follow the Vehicle”. It is aimed at making life easier for car rental companies, ride-sharing service providers, and fleet operators. SKODA AUTO revealed in a recent press release that the new self-driving car technology illustrates the effectiveness and high standard of its current assistant systems.
Below is the short demonstration video of Skoda’s new “Follow the Vehicle” self-driving car technology.

Just as you would have seen in the demo video above, the “Slave” autonomous car follows the human-operated “Master” vehicle at a distance of about 33 feet (10 metres) away. It should also be noted that the “Master” vehicle determines both the lane, speed and many other important parameters for the “Slave” car. Also, the two vehicles participating in the “system” send critical data to each other through a sophisticated radio network. To a good extent, the demo video above has pretty much explained all there is to know about this “Follow the vehicle” autonomous driving tech.
