In support of the Federal Govt’s push for the adoption of natural gas fuel for powering automobiles in Nigeria, during his speech in a ceremony in Abuja, Mr Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of NNPC has reportedly announced that by December, NNPC will flood all of its services stations across Nigeria with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fuel.
The GMD of NNPC, Mr Mele Kyari says that all of NNPC’s service stations across Nigeria will have CNG fuel by December
Mr Kyari reportedly stressed that there is need for the PIB (Petroleum Industry Bill) to be passed quickly into law because the current laws of the nation do not adequately respond to the recent changes in the overall petroleum industry. He, however, expressed that he is optimistic about the rejuvenated collaboration between Nigeria government’s legislative arm and the executive arm to access and actuate the Petroleum Industry Bill.
Both the Federal Govt and NNPC are currently making efforts to make Nigerians shift from petrol or diesel fuel to natural gas
Based on Mr Mele Kyari’s recent public statements, the Petroleum Industry Bill has been lingering for over 2 decades now with no proper attention. He says the bill would really make a huge difference if passed into law anytime soon.
