The Maroko Division of the Lagos Police Command has confirmed in new reports that two serial car thieves known for operating within V.I and Lekki have been arrested and taken into custody.
These two suspects are identified as one Sunny Kamuli (35 years old) and Mukaila Atanda (36 years old). The police alleged that both men are criminals who specialize in robbing vehicles of Lekki and V.I residents.

According to press reports, the two suspects have been accused of burgling vehicles parked in Church compounds, event centres, and supermarkets around the Victoria Island and Lekki Phase 1 areas of Lagos state.
A third accomplice identified as one Agu Chikezie has also been reportedly arrested alongside the two suspects. Chikezie is accused of receiving stolen properties worth ₦500,000 from the two suspects. Below is a highlight of the most recent heist carried out by the suspected car burglars according to press reports:
- On Wednesday 3rd of June 2020, the suspects allegedly stormed the premises of Angle Villa at Lekki Phase 1 where they burgled a car belonging to a certain Onyeabor Okafor. The police report claims that they carted away one bag with a laptop inside and other valuables worth ₦250,000 from the victim’s vehicles.
- Similarly, on Thursday 25th of June 2020, the two suspects were also accused of stealing one Apple laptop worth ₦600,000 by smashing the side glasses of one Toyota Prado SUV fitted with the plate number “AKD 160 FT” parked at the premises of DHL office in Lekki Phase 1. On this same day, the police report claims that the two suspects also broke into one Hyundai SUV in the V.I area from which they stole a bag with an HP laptop inside valued at ₦600,000.
There are several other recorded offences and criminal allegations levelled against the two suspects which we have skipped in this post. However, the bottom line is that both suspects and their accomplice are currently under court trials for all the above-listed crimes and more.
