Here is a full list of all major roads in Port Harcourt which the Rivers State government has now banned Keke Napeps from operating within its premises.

It is now a confirmed report that the government of Rivers State has officially banned tricycles (Keke Napep) from operating on some specific major roads in Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt LGAs of the state. This update was confirmed by Sam Soni Ejekwu, the commissioner for Transport in Rivers State on Monday of 31st August 2020 in his public statement.

The commissioner disclosed that the ban had to be placed by the government to curb the recently increasing reports of reckless driving by Keke Napep operators along major roads of the affected areas.

List of major roads in Rivers State where Keke Napep is now banned

According to the 2009 Rivers State Traffic Law Number 6, section 74 and subsection 1 (h) – the operation of Keke Napep has now been declared banned on the roads listed below;

  • Waja – Nkpogu road
  • Gulf Estate – Akpajo road
  • Elekahia and Elikahia housing estate road
  • Iloabuchi road
  • Old Aba road
  • Akpajo – Elelenwo – Oil Mill road
  • Eastern Bypass
  • Oginigba to Artillery road
  • Slaughter to Woji road
  • Igwuruta – Eneka – Rumuokwurusi road
  • Choba – NTA road
  • Airport road
  • Ada George road
  • East-West road
  • All roads in Borokiri Axis
  • All roads in Old Port Harcourt town
  • Ikwerre road
  • Aba road
  • Trans Amadi (Zoo – Garrison) road

Meanwhile, Rivers State is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic as its current number of confirmed cases stands at 2,141 as of the time of writing this report. Nonetheless, life activities have been going on gradually in Port Harcourt the state capital since the ease of lockdown.
