Several media sources claim that the vehicles were seen last Sunday, 21st of November 2021. Speculators claim that the vehicles must have been abandoned by travellers that were attacked by armed kidnappers on the Kaduna-Abuja road. This speculation seems close to the truth because a popular Nigerian media outlet (PR Naija) initially reported that armed bandits blocked the same road. In fact, one of the travellers who escaped narrated that the armed Kidnappers blocked the road around the Katari village area. He further revealed that the armed bandits began their “operation” around 2 pm in the afternoon and they spent over an hour attacking travellers.

Another person who recently travelled along the Kaduna-Abuja road claimed that they heard gunshots on Sunday, November 21 when they were close to the incident spot. He narrated that the vehicle he boarded turned back upon hearing gunshots and parked a mile away from armed bandits. He confirmed that they waited for up to 2 hours until the road was “FREE” before continuing their journey along that path.
