According to a new report, a minimum of 3 vehicles were set on fire and 2 vehicles vandalized when police officers from the Elemoro Division police station in Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos clashed with okada riders last Monday.

From what we learnt, the disturbing incident happened when the officers took into custody an okada rider who reportedly drove against the traffic. It was later revealed that the motorcyclist was shot dead in quite a strange manner.

In retaliation for what was done to their colleague, the motorcyclists stormed the Elemuro Police Station, where they ended up setting three vehicles ablaze and vandalizing two patrol vans found in the premises.
Muyiwa Adejobi, who happens to be the Police Public Relation Officer in Lagos State, while confirming the story, disclosed that the police station wasn't burnt down during the protest. Adejobi also stated that another station located in the Ile-Epo Area of the state wasn't burnt down as well.

TWO KILLED AS POLICE, HAUSA 'OKADA' RIDERS CLASH IN LAGOS
In a statement that was released publicly by the state police, they were able to repel such attacks on the police stations in the area. The police were able to arrest 12 people involved in these attacks. The police command also stated that no one was killed during the clash.
Hakeem Odumosu, who is the commissioner of police in Lagos State, has given a directive that incidents at those affected locations should be thoroughly investigated. He, however, urged the general public to go about their daily businesses without fear. Odumosu assured the people of Lagos state that they are currently working on suppressing any act of criminality and lawlessness within the state.
