In recent times, the activities of traffic robbers on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan road have become quite worrisome for motorists and security agencies. Shortly after their recent attacks on motorists using the route, the robbers struck once again on the Lagos-Ibadan highway as they extort motorists this week. It was reported that the robbers attacked motorists during the early hours of Wednesday. According to reports, the latest robbery happened on the long bridge, near the Warewa bus stop between 5 am and 6:15 am.
The attack on Wednesday morning was the second of such in a week along the Lagos-Ibadan highway
A passenger and an eyewitness identified as Abayomi revealed that vehicles were abandoned as motorists scrambled to safety during the attack. According to him, people were hitting other vehicles on the road while trying to escape the attack. He said the situation became worse when they heard someone was killed and was lying lifeless on the ground. Abayomi added that police operatives eventually came to the scene of the attack but he couldn't ascertain the division they came from. Adulfathai Ogunsanya, who is a Divisional Police Officer at the Werewa Police Station, confirmed this incident. He said his men were at the scene, which made it a bit difficult for him to give a comprehensive report as to what went down along the route. He also revealed that no life was lost from the report he got from one of the police officers present at the scene. Ogunsanya said a vehicle was shattered and the only injured victim was taken to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.
