There is just no way, I mean it's inconceivable, even unforgivable for you to talk about football and then not mention Africa and the numerous talents she has given to the sport. There is no way you can talk about football without mentioning the likes of Nwankwo Kanu, Jay Jay Okocha, Samuel Eto'o, Goerge Weah, Abedi Pelle, and even Emmanuel Adebayo.
These guys and a legion of other super talented footballers have graced the sport and others are currently still cracking their nuts in the game in the biggest leagues and clubs across the globe. Am certain you can mention a good number of these football stars without looking at the books, but what we will do here is a bit different. We are bringing to you a somewhat detailed list of the richest footballers in Africa, specifically the top 10 richest footballers in Africa and when we're done, you may decide who is the richest footballer in Africa...Lol. Actually, they are among the richest footballers in the world.

|1||Yaya Toure||$70 Million|
|2||Mohamed Salah||$55 million to $70 million|
|3||Mikel John Obi||$50 Million or ₦19.1 Billion|
|4||Micheal Essien||$45 Million or ₦17.2 Billion|
|5||Emmanuel Adebayor||$45 million to $56 million|
|6||Asamoah Gyan||$31.5 million to $40 million.|

|8||Obafemi Martins||$25 million to $30 million|
|9||Sadio Mane||$20 million|
|10||Riyad Mahrez||$10 million|
1. Yaya Toure - ($70 Million)
Yaya Toure graces the top of our list of the richest African footballers who are still playing the beautiful game even in the most limited amount. We picked Yaya in the list going by the recent developments around him which still suggest that he hasn't hanged up his boot. In fact, a recent comment credited to the big Ivorian suggests he still has a few playing years of his career left in the tank even when his former agent, Mr Seluk announced some years back that Yaya had retired.
So we can say Yaya's playing career is still very much active even as it is claimed by his agent that he will be heading to the Ukrainian Premier League side Olimpik Donetsk where he will serve as possibly a player and a coaching assistant in the team.
So how much is the Big man really worth? Well, when you consider Yaya's playing career and how much he made during this time, you might be forgiven if you speculate that the Ivorian has over $100 million in cash and assets chilling somewhere, Lol. Anyway, if you suggested that number, we are not so far away, as several sources put the Ivorian box-to-box midfielder's net worth at between $55 Million to $70 Million.
With that size of wealth, you could expect Yaya to own some really expensive cars and yes he does. With a car collection that is over $1.5 million in total cost, Yaya Toure's garage ranks amongst the most expensive among football stars. Check out the list of the cars in his garage and their prices below,
|Yaya's Cars||Their Prices|
|Mercedes Benz G-Wagon||₦79.41 Million|
|Porsche Carrera||₦66.35 Million|
|Rolls-Royce Phantom||₦195.40 Million|
|Mercedes Brabus 850||₦177.63 Million|
|Bentley Continental||₦110.76 Million|
|Rolls-Royce Wraith||₦145.24 Million|

2. Mohamed Salah ($55 million to $70 million)
Mo Sallah makes our top ten richest footballers in Africa pick and I'm certain very few people will contest his inclusion in this prestigious list...Lol. Sallah has undoubtedly amassed a good deal of wealth in his so far not so long footballing career. You normally wouldn't have expected Sallah to make this list if he was playing some 15 years ago, those days when footballer's wages were not as astronomical as they are now.
Salah has played for FC Basel, Chelsea FC, Florentina, and AS Roma both in Italy. He signed for current club Liverpool in 2017 and was on an initial weekly wage of about £120,000 but got an improved one in 2018, which saw him pocket as much as £200,000 a week excluding bonuses. Just last year, Forbes estimated that Mo Salah earned as much as $23.1 M in Salary/Bonuses and when endorsement deals are added to it climbs to as high as $35.1 million.
So we estimate that Salah is worth between $55 million to $70 million if the previous year's earnings are put into consideration. Isn't that figure just amazing for someone with such a short career in Europe?.
Anyways, Sallah takes his boisterous wealth with such humility and modesty, trying his best not to be showy like some other soccer stars. He keeps his things private and leads a generally simple and generous lifestyle.
When it comes to cars, his modesty has not stopped him from buying so really nice and expensive pieces. See the table below for a breakdown of his cars and their prices
Mo Salah's cars and their prices
|Mo Salah's Cars||Prices|
|Bentley Continental GT||₦83.2 million|
|Lamborghini Aventador||₦141 million|
|Mercedes AMG GLE Coupe||₦34 million|

|Audi Q7||₦28.1 million|

3. Mikel John Obi ($50 Million or ₦19.1 Billion)
Mikel Obi, who makes it to our top 10 richest African footballers, still enjoys an active footballing career. Mikel came into the limelight after participating in the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship hosted by Finland where his starring role was not enough to get the Golden Eaglets into the knockout phase of the tournament but would help him earn a move to Norwegian club Lyn.
However, by 2005, Mikel Obi and the Flying Eagles will make it to the finals where they lost to a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina. His role in the team would also earn him the much-needed break, leading to him being signed up by Chealsea in 2008. And the rest is history as we all know.
It is at Chelsea FC Mikel Obi made most of his over $50 Million wealth even before making his move to China in 2017 where he reportedly earned about ₦3.8 Billion in yearly salary.
When it comes to cars, Mikel has a very cool taste. Some of his cars and their prices are shown below,
|Mikel Obi's Cars||Prices|
|Bentley Continental GT||₦68.60 Million|
|Range Rover Sport SUV||₦23.20 Million|
|Mercedes Benz G-Wagon||₦43.60 Million|
|Mercedes Benz E -Class||₦28.60 Million|
4. Micheal Essien - $45 Million or ₦17.2 Billion
Micheal Essien makes our list of the top 10 richest African footballers due to the player-coach role he runs with his current club. I guess a good number of you our readers believe that Essien has retired from active playing, but in reality, his current role with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland means that he might be drafted in to play if a need arises.
Essien has enjoyed a really impressive career to date playing for teams like AC Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Lyon, and most recently Azerbaijan side Sabail FK. However, he made the most money during his time at Chelsea and Real Madrid, where he was reportedly earning as much as $5.5 Million in annual salary. At the moment, his net worth is reported to be somewhere in the region of $30 Million to $45 Million.
Essien has generally maintained a low-key lifestyle especially when it comes to showing off his wealth and personal effects. So, not so much is in the public domain when it comes to his cars and houses, except for a few we had to sneak around to gather. One of his most notable cars is the Audi Q7 he got in 2012 from the German carmaker as part of the company's sponsorship agreement commitment to Real Madrid's first-team squad.
Essien is said to also have a Porsche Cayne SUV, an Aston Martin ride, and a Range Rover SUV in his garage.

5. Emmanuel Adebayor - ($45 million to $56 million)
Remember our list of richest footballers in Africa consists only of those still playing the beautiful game in some capacity, and Emmanuel Adebayor fits this category since he has not announced his retirement from playing.
As most of us already know, Adebayor is Nigerian by virtue of his parent's background, who are both Nigerians of Yoruba extraction. However, he also enjoys Togolese citizenship by virtue of his place of birth. He was born on the 26th of February 1984 into a family of 8 and would begin his footballing career early at the famous Sports Development Centre Lome.
His professional footballing career has seen him play for as many as 10 different clubs. He most recently signed for the Paraguayan Primera Division side in February of 2020 but the deal would only last a few months before both parties mutually cut ties due largely to the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly worth between $45 million to $56 million, which makes him one of the richest footballers in Africa. He made most of his money while playing in Europe where he reportedly earned as much as $7.98 Million yearly salaries at Manchester City and that salary went even higher when he moved to Tottenham where he reportedly earned as much as £200,000 a week.
When it comes to cars, his taste is just as luxurious and even exudes some kind of arrogance only a ₦21.3 Million rich superstar gives-off. See the table below for complete details of his cars and their prices.
|Mercedes Benz G65 AMG||₦68 million|
|Mercedes Benz S-Class||₦40 million - ₦80 million|
|Mercedes Benz V-Class||₦50 million - ₦100 million|
|Fisker Karma||₦42 million|
|Rolls Royce Phantom||₦145 million|

6. Asamoah Gyan - ($31.5 million to $40 million)
There is just nowhere we could compile this list and the famous Ghanaian striker's name gets to be missing from it. Asamoah Gyan, famously known in Ghana as Baby Jet, is definitely one of the richest African footballers with a net worth that is in the region of $31.5 million to $40 million.
Most of his wealth was amassed during his time in the oil-rich middle east where he played for the likes of Al Ain and Al Ahli Dubai. His biggest paydays came when he played for the Chinese Super League side Shangai SIPG where he reportedly earned as much as £225,000 (₦117.3 million) per week. His early days saw him play for teams in Europe with clubs like Rennes, Udinese, and even Sunderland FC in England.
The always jovial Gyan who also has a burning passion for music currently plies his trade in his home country with Ghanaian Premier League side Legon Cities where he reportedly earns as much as $1 million in annual salary.
For someone with a passion for music and a few appearances in some music videos, you would expect his cars to match what those music celebrities cruise around in. And as a pre-tip, Asamoah Gyan is so much in love with the Porsche brand and has a few Porsche Cayanne lying around his mansion. The table below highlights some of his cars and their prices.

So we have another superstar, this time a Gabonese making our list of richest footballers in Africa. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang becomes our 7th pick in the richest footballer in Africa list, coming in with a net worth that is in the region of $30 million to $35 million.
If you are one of those fans that closely follow Aubameyang, you will be conversant with his ultra-coloured supercars, which have a total value that is well over £2 million (over ₦762 million). Now you may wonder where he gets that level of cash to spend on cars. Well when you are earning about £350,000 every week, then I see no reason why a £2 million garage will raise any eyebrows.
See the table below for Aubameyang's cars and their prices
|Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder||₦91.5 Million|

8. Obafemi Martins - ($25 million to $30 million)
Obagoal the power striker that held us spellbound especially during his early days when he played for Italian side Inter Milan and when he wore the Super Eagles colours. Martins still plays the beautiful game against what most of us might think, he currently plies his trade with Chinese Super League side Wuhan Zall which he joined only last year.
After playing for so many clubs in Europe, China, Russia, and even in the MLS with Seattle Sounders where he scored as many as 40 goals in his over 2 years stay there, Obafemi Martins is primed to be one of the wealthiest and richest footballers in Africa, and that is what he is. With a net worth that is in the region of $25 million to $30 million, Obagoal takes his pride of place amongst the wealthiest African guys to have so far played the beautiful game.
With that level of wealth, Martins has not shied away from buying the really expensive kinds of stuff especially cars. His garage is graced by super cool cars that are also very expensive. See the table below for a list of Obafemi Martins cars and their prices.
|Obafemi Martins Cars||Valued at|
|Two Mercedes Benz G-Class (Black and White)||₦106 million each|

9. Sadio Mane ($20 million)
Sadio Mane embodies the true spirit of an African, a resilient and hardworking person that braves every odd to make it to the top. Sadio's humble beginnings mirror that of most African footballers he travelled across the Atlantic and became household names by sheer determination and dedication to their footballing talent.
Today though, we will not be overly concerns about Mane's humble beginnings but at his inspiring present which has seen him become one of the highest-paid footballers of our time, reportedly taking home £150,000 weekly. Sadio has a big heart and rather spends most of his earnings on others, especially the most vulnerable and poor people in his home country of Senegal. See some of his quotes below,
Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches and two jet planes? What would that do for the world? I starved, I worked in the fields, I played barefoot, and I didn’t go to school. Now I can help people. I prefer to build schools and give poor people food or clothing
I have built schools, a stadium; we provide clothes, shoes and food for people in extreme poverty. In addition, I give €70 per month to all people from a very poor Senegalese region in order to contribute to their family economy
Sadio though has a really cool and expensive taste in cars, even though they are just a few which clearly boils down to his modest lifestyle. Talking about his modest lifestyle, Sadio was photographed stepping off his team's bus holding a mobile phone with had a broken screen. Can you beat that!!!. Anyways, below is a list of his cars and their prices.
|Sadio Mane's Cars||Prices|
|Bentley Continental GT||₦77 million|
|Audi RS7||₦46 million|
|Mercedes G63 AMG||₦57.2 million|
|Range Rover||₦42 million|

10. Riyad Mahrez
Riyad Mahrez takes the final spot in our top ten richest African footballers who are still actively playing the beautiful game. Mahrez really came into the limelight during his time at Leicester City, where his slick dribbles and beautiful left foot endeared him to us. However, Mahrez made a few more enemies in Nigeria after that injury time freekick goal that denied Nigeria a place in the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON. I don't think many of us will forgive him for breaking our hearts that hot night...LOL.
Anyways, Mahrez has made a good deal of money since hitting the spotlight and currently earns about £6,240,000 per year in salaries only. He is currently estimated to be worth over $10 million, which is a good deal considering his pretty short career so far.
When it comes to cars, Riyad is somewhat shrewd, see the table below for a list of his cars and their prices.
|Riyad Mahrez Cars||Their Prices|
|Bentley Bentayga||₦80 million - ₦105 million|
|BMW i8||₦55.2 million|
|Audi Quattro||Over ₦20million|
