Cosharis will start the production of two Renault models - Logan and Duster- this month in its assembly plant in Nigeria. This is a welcomed development for auto industry. Read on!

The production of two Renault models in Nigeria will commence this month by Cosharis Motors. This development is the product of the partnership deal made by Cosharis Groups, the parent company of Coscharis Motor and the French Automaker.

The two Renault variants according to Cosharis will be Renault Duster and Renault Logan, which will be assembled in the existing assembly facility owned by Cosharis in Lagos. In addition, Renault Oroch and Kwid will be imported into the country as Complete Built Unit (CBU), which is part of the partnership, in due course.

According to the chairman and SVP of the Africa, Middle-East-India region of Groupe Renault, Fabrice Cambolive:

“With a population of over 200 million, Nigeria is a strategic African country where Groupe Renault will extend its footprint. The Coscharis Group is a recognized player in car (vehicle) assembly and distribution. Thanks to their expertise and our products adapted to the local needs, we will be able to answer immediately to the customers’ demand in Nigeria” 

With a market share of 18%, Group Renault is a top player in the continent of Africa. The company sold over 216,000 vehicles in Africa in just 2018. The countries with the highest volume sales are Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and South Africa. Maintaining its existing leadership and responding to the new emerging middle class nations like Nigeria is the key objective of the company.

The presence of the Renault Duster as part of the two models, will drive the automotive industry in Nigeria to greater heights

This will commence at the Assembly facility belonging to Cosharis in Awoyaya, along Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos.
