A recent horrific accident reportedly claimed the lives of 14 people and left 3 others injured on Lokoja-Kabba road. Mr Solomon Aghure, the Kogi FRSC Sector Commander confirmed that the ghastly accident was caused by reckless driving and it involved three different vehicles. He listed the affected cars as follows:
- Toyota Hiace (passenger bus) with plate registration number Kano KTV 378 XF
- Honda Accord (sedan) with plate registration number Abuja GWA 173 KH
- DAF Truck with plate registration number Gombe GME 44 ZU
Kogi FRSC confirms that reckless driving tyre burst caused a recent ghastly motor accident that claimed 14 lives on Lokoja-Kabba road
Going by the statements of Kogi FRSC Sector Commander, this horrific motor accident occurred at Apata community at around 12.50 pm in the afternoon. The incident led to the “instant” death of 3 men and 11 women while 2 other men and a woman reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries. The FRSC Commander also disclosed that a total of 26 people including 4 children, 13 females and 9 males were involved in the crash. He further noted that all the 4 kids involved in the crash survived with 8 other adults.
When speaking on the cause of the terrible accident, the Kogi State FRSC Sector Commander said that reckless driving and tyre burst led to the unfortunate turnout of the event. He also stressed that the FRSC would still carry out further investigation to draw out more facts as regards the cause of this horrifying accident.

As of the time of writing this report, the body of all the deceased accident victims is said to have been deposited at the mortuary of Federal Medical Center in Lokoja while the injured victims are being treated in the same hospital.
