Rashidi Yekini's last days were spent in his Ring road residence in Ibadan. However, those years were spent alone, completely away from family and friends. Rashidi Yekini was known to prefer solitude and isolation during his active football years but that situation got magnified after his retirement as his life of isolation got worse. He was so detached from people so much so that he had no friends except for his lawyer and a certain Ibraheem. Quite saddening, isn't it?
He would further withdraw into his shell after losing virtually all of his investment when his close confidant Ibraheem was waylaid by armed robbers. Unfortunately, the junk of the cash Ibraheem was killed for was owned by Rashidi Yekini. Yes, Rashidi had liquidated virtually all of his wealth, converting them to cash which he gave to his friend Ibraheem who ran a Bureau de Change in Ibadan. So when Ibraheem was robbed, Yekini lost virtually everything. This situation forced Yekini a lot deeper into his world of isolation, and gradually into extreme depression.
