Earlier this year Land Rover cancelled the Range Rover Coupe but Niels Van Roij Design has resurrected the concept again. Read the gist here now!

Nigerians just love Range Rovers and like you might guess, 90% of the Naijauto.com team members have a crazy love for all the Land Rover Range Rover SUVs as well. You can check out our massive collections of Range Rover cars for sale in Nigeria and feel the love.

Just at the beginning of this year, many reports of the anticipated Range Rover SV coupe being cancelled even before production broke a lot of people’s heart. But now there is good news for all those seeking a two-door tank-like coupe. Yes, the builders of the Tesla Model S Shooting Brake, Niels Van Roij Design have now set to work on “Aventum Coupe” – their own version of the Range Rover Coupe.

Niels van Roij Design is the London based automotive design studio resurrecting the Range Rover Coupe

This London based firm has set to out to build 100 of this Aventum Coupe, with each unit costing between ₦130 million and ₦178 million (£275,000 - £375,000) depending on the donor vehicle and spec and also a ₦23.7 million (£50,000) deposit is actually needed for anyone to secure a build slot for the coupe. Either of this way is obviously more expensive than the actual proposed Range Rover Coupe that was cancelled which was set to have an “affordable” cost of ₦114 million (£240,000) before it got axed off.

Every single unit of this aluminum bodied hand-built car will eventually differ from one another in look as each one will be built based on the owner’s unique specifications and/or speculations.

Recall that this same British based design studio has also worked lately on the recent iteration of the popular London Taxi. The brand’s boss, Niels van Roij when talking about the coming Aventum Coupe said;

"Anything is possible, from highly-polished woods, personalized tread plates, extraordinary one-off color-coded leather hides in chic patterns to sophisticated handcrafted embroidery,"

"Even Tweeds and exotic materials not normally found in the realm of automotive design can be applied by our team of craftspeople."

It even gets more interesting as many of you guys will be pleased to know that production has already begun on the first of this Niels van Roij Design’s Aventum Coupe with each vehicle estimated to take just 6 months for completion.

Did you know that the original Range Rover vehicle was actually launched as a 2-door back in the year 1970? Yes, you read that right!

It has just been unfortunate that the initial 2-door body style has since been unavailable since the year 1981 when the 4-door model which is the nowadays most familiar body style was introduced to the market.

Van Roij the owner of the initially mentioned automotive design studio working on the Aventum Coupe reckoned this Range Rover history by pointing out in his speech that;

"The original, first generation of this British icon was launched in 1970. This car was presented in the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited as an exemplary work of industrial design.

For those who might not remember or doesn’t even know; Jaguar Land Rover literally cancelled its own proposed Range Rover Coupe back in January 2019 with the purpose of focusing more on its volume models which includes the coming Defender that will be unveiled soon.

The brand made this cancellation known in a released press statement as at January this year where they had stated that;

"We have taken the difficult decision to inform our customers that the Range Rover SV Coupé will not proceed into production,"

"Instead, Land Rover is focusing its resources and investment on the next generation of world-class products."

Will people opt-in for this new Aventum Coupe or still prefer to wait till the original Range Rover SV Coupe itself gets revisited and produced?

No one could directly answer that question right now but with a production of the Aventum Coupe already beginning, there is a clear sign that it might be heading towards a massive sale and huge success later on.
