Yes, press sources identified the car as a 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 43 sedan that is worth ₦52million. It was said to have been stolen from a certain 32-yrs-old businesswoman whose name is Nneka Chiemelu.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of Lagos state police has confirmed the details of this case. In a public statement, the police PRO revealed that the Mercedes car was allegedly stolen by Damilola Areje, a 28-yrs-old son of a police inspector. The suspect reportedly stole the vehicle from the Lekki Phase 1 area in the apartment of Chiemelu who is the original owner.
The police claim that Chiemelu reported on July 22 that the suspect absconded with her car and some Bitcoin worth $700 at about 4:05 pm. It was revealed that Chiemelu entrusted the keys to her vehicle to the police inspector’s son who used to be an acquaintance. In fact, she alleged that the suspect actually asked to charge his phone inside the car while she attends to some clients.

The recovered vehicle stolen by a police inspector’s son in Lagos is not yet released to the owner. According to media reports, the stolen car was recovered in Akure, the capital city of Ondo state. However, it is currently in the custody of the Lagos state police command till investigations are completed. Also, it is worth mentioning that the police inspector’s son was a former boyfriend of the car owner. Nonetheless, the businesswoman claimed that she was no longer in a relationship with the man at the time he stole her car. Also, she said that the police command is yet to help recover her $700 Bitcoin from the suspect.
