Men of the Lagos State Police Command belonging to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have confirmed the arrest of seven suspects that have been allegedly using POS machines to extort unsuspecting motorists along LASU-Igando expressway in Lagos.
RRS arrests 5 suspects extorting motorists with POS machine in Lagos
These seven suspects reportedly disguise themselves as officials under contract with the Ikotun-Igando Local Development Council in Alimosho LGA. The RRS was able to track and arrest them after a victim lodged a complaint with the police. Below are the names of these seven suspects according to police reports;
- Aro Dotun – 46 yrs old
- Rasak Eko – 50 yrs old
- Akinseye Alex – 48 yrs old
- Chibuzor Eze – 26 yrs old
- Adedire Olaniyi – 40 yrs old
- Mukaila Atanda – 48 yrs old
- Taiwo Falodun – 48 yrs old
It was reported that these suspects extorted ₦41,000 from one of the motorists (victims) on Thursday 23rd of January 2020. The suspects allegedly impounded the vehicle of the victim and forcefully had it driven to their hideout located along the expressway. But after RRS located and raid their hideouts, the vehicle was released alongside 15 other cars and 2 commercial buses with already deflated tires.
Lagosians should be careful of all these fake government officials on expressways.
