For more than a week now, the Nigerian youths have been participating in peaceful protests across the states of the federation in a bid to put an end to the alarming police brutality, extortion, extra-judicial killing, and harassment from a special crime-fighting unit known as SARS. The agitation calling for the dissolution of the police unit has also gotten the attention of local and international celebrities, who are lending their voices to the movement.
Several vehicles were vandalized by thugs at the #ENDSARS protest recently in Abuja
From a new report, a group of armed thugs, suspected to be ProSARS, attacked the protesters last Wednesday at the Berger area of the FCT. The hoodlums were said to have invaded the venue with a series of weapons, many of which were cutlasses. As a result, the whole area was thrown into a state of pandemonium as the End SARS protesters were chased by these thugs while several vehicles were destroyed along the way.

While some of the injured protesters were taken to hospital to receive medical treatments, several vehicles suspected to belong to these protesters were vandalized as a way of sending a strong message to them and ending the protest in that area. Just recently, #ENDSARS protesters paralyzed traffic by blocking Lagos roads and tollgates, in an attempt to further gain the attention of the government in meeting their sole demand.

In other news, Mohammed Adamu, who happens to be the Inspector-General of Police, has disbanded the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) while forming a new unit to combat crime known as Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), which is expected to fill the void left behind since the call for the end of the previous unit.
