Patoranking Biography
Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie is popularly known as Patoranking. He is 29 years old. He is a cool, reggae-dancehall songwriter, singer, stage performer, and recording artist. He is also a philanthropist.
He was born on the 27th of May 1990 in Ijegun-Egba, Satellite Town in Lagos, Nigeria but hails from Onicha, Ebonyi State. He is popularly known for his popular slang “Wha Ya Say”. Aside from being recognized for music in Ebute-Metta, he was also remembered for selling products like rat poison and calendars with his dad and that started when he was 13 years old.
When he was 17, he moved to Ghana to see if he could attend a university there but he could not continue due to lack of funds. Therefore, he decided to come back to Nigeria to thoroughly pursue his music career .
After coming back to Nigeria, he tried working with little labels around but they could not understand his style of Afro-Reggae music.

Patoranking music journey
Patoranking started his music journey basically on the streets, at street jams, and even as a street dancer. When interviewed in 2012, he made it known that his nickname was given by an artist from Jamaica at the Alpha beach located in Lagos State. He first kicked off with a record deal with Igberaga Records owned by K-solo in 2010 and released the song “Up in D Club”.
Later, after partnering with Timaya on “Alubarika”, he worked under Dem Mama Records belonging to Timaya. This hit song “Alubarika” was a summary of his rough life as an upcoming artist. Further in his career, he signed a deal with Foston Musik, then, released a song “Girlie O” which helped him appear in the music chart.
Around February 2015, Patoranking made it known that he had signed a new distribution deal with VP records. In January 2016, Patoranking was made one of the judges for the first edition of “The Voice Nigeria”, which was a singing competition.

Albums
Patoranking’s first album “God Over Everything”, which was released on August 1, 2016, featured top artistes like Wizkid, Olamide, Sarkodie, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, and Elephant Man. This album ranked 4th on the chart of Billboard’s Reggae Albums. His latest album, “Wilmer”, which was named after his daughter, was dropped on 24th May 2019.

Patoranking has been nominated in various music categories and awards, in which he has won some. In 2016, his song “No Kissing Baby” helped him win Best Dancehall Artist at the AFRIMA awards. He was also awarded Best New Act at the MTV Base awards. His song “My Woman, My Everything” won the Best Afropop Song at the Tooxlusive awards.
At the BenTV awards, under the Best Reggae/Dancehall awards, he won both Best Collaboration and Best New Act. The Headies 2014 also nominated his songs “Girlie O Remix” and "Emergency" for the Best Collabo
His song “Emergency” was given the award and he had worked with Wizz Pro, Runtown, and Skales on it. He won at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015, specifically, the African Artiste of the Year award. At the BenTv Awards in 2014, he also won the Next Rated award.
He won the award "the Best Reggae/Dancehall Single" for “Girlie O Remix,” featuring Tiwa Savage, at the Headies in 2014. He also won the best Dancehall/Reggae Act at the City People Entertainment Awards. They also nominated him for two other awards.
