According to the reports, Governor Makinde appreciated the IG of police for ensuring the quick approval of the PMF, 72 Squadron which he requested in August last year. He expressed gratitude to the IG for helping to cut out unnecessary bottlenecks that could have hindered the approval of this new Squadron.

The governor in his statement also appreciated all the leaders, elders, and traditional institutions of Oke Ogun and particularly Ago-Are for their unceasing support while he charged the new squad with discharging their duties efficiently. It was further stated in the reports that Governor Makinde also stated that his government will take all necessary steps to make sure the Permanent site that will be used by this new Mobile force is completed very soon.

Reports claim that many high-ranking police and government officers were present at the commissioning ceremony of the PMF 72 Squadron. Some of which include:

  • Shina Olukolu – Oyo state Commissioner of Police
  • Muhammad Adamu – Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police (was represented by Abdulmajid Ali, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the department of Operations)

Speaking of recent donations towards state security, Dangote Cement PLC donated 35 new vehicles to Lagos State Security Trust Fund just two weeks ago. We are really happy to see both private organizations and state governments paying more attention to security at the state level.

And still, on security matters in Oyo state, we have to commend the efforts of the Oyo police command in apprehending the suspects who recently kidnapped the children of popular Islamic cleric Akewugbagold.
