There is a popular saying that “every day is for the thieves, but one day is for the owner”. This describes what really happened to some car thieves that were recently apprehended in Oyo State. Press reports revealed that the Oyo Amotekun Corps arrested two suspects that specialized in stealing and selling cars for ₦70,000.

These two suspected car thieves were reportedly arrested on Friday, September 23. Their names were also revealed as Makinde Tunji and Ajibola Abayomi. The two young men were apprehended by operatives of the Amotekun Corps which is formally known as the Western Nigeria Security Network. The security men arrested the suspects around the Olopometa area in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. The two suspects were said to have stolen five different Nissan Micra cars before their arrest. After their arrest, the suspects confessed to having sold three of the cars already for a cheap ₦70,000 each.
Mr Kazeem Babalola Akinro, the Deputy Commandant of Oyo Amotekun Corps has confirmed the recent arrest of two car thieves. He disclosed that the suspects often steal Nissan Micra cars in Oyo and then sell them to a buyer in the Ijora area of Lagos State. Mr Kazeem Babalola Akinro disclosed that the two suspects will be transferred to the Oyo State police command for proper investigations. Nonetheless, the suspects have already confessed to specializing in the theft of Nissan Micra cars wherever they are parked. Also, they have confessed to successfully stealing five such Nissan Micra cars and having sold three of them already.
