Tuesday 11th of August 2020 was a great day for the people of Ondo State as the very first Amotekun Corps held their POP (Passing Out Parade). The state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu alongside other top government official attended the ceremony where the uniform of the Corps and their branded operational vehicles were all put on display.
Ondo State sets to battle insecurity with the pioneer Amotekun security corps that recently held their passing out parade
Reports from the Tuesday event states that Governor Akeredolu noted his awareness of some evil perpetrators that have been reportedly causing terror to farmers in remote locations of the state.
According to the reports, the governor explained that the new Amotekun Corps was specifically created to tackle all matters pertaining to insecurity the state especially in remote regions that other security operatives find difficult to reach.

In the course of the passing out Parade of the pioneer Amotekun Corps in Ondo State on Tuesday, Governor Akerodolu reportedly urged them to make sure they keep in mind and put into action everything they learnt during their 4-week rigorous training.
The reports also claimed the governor praised the Pioneer Corps for their willingness to begin operation despite the state government’s current inability to provide them with sufficient funds. Governor Akeredolu also urged other existing security operatives as well as traditional leaders in the state to provide full support for the new Amotekun Corps as they go about tackling insecurity within the state.
