It is such a common belief in Nigeria that politics is a “loyalty” game and that it always requires being supportive of one side of a government while opposing the other side. This belief might be easily related to new press reports claiming that Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State gifted brand-new cars to pro-government lawmakers but allegedly ignored others that haven’t been supportive in recent times.
New press reports claim that Ondo State governor gifted some “loyal” Lawmakers new cars but allegedly ignored others
This new report has sparked lots of rumors and controversies amidst political analysts, media, and Ondo residents with many believing the reports while others debunked it. According to SaharaReporters, Governor Akeredolu presented brand-new SUVs to some specific House of Assembly members that have been allegedly “loyal” to him.
Coincidentally, this report is coming at a time when the state is preparing for its gubernatorial elections, which is set to hold in a months’ time.
It was further stated in the reports that the lawmakers who did not get a car gift from the governor were the ones that allegedly refused to support the “plot” to impeach Agboola Ajayi, the deputy governor last month.
The press reports claim that the SUVs were received by Bamidele Oloyegun, the Speaker of the House on behalf of the “pro-government” members while assuring the governor of optimum performance by the legislators (beneficiaries).
