On Tuesday 9th July 2019, during the commissioning ceremony of the new CAT 320D2 amphibious excavator, Governor Akeredolu mentioned that during rainy seasons, Ondo state is prone to more flooding problems due to the geographical location.
He went further to explain how flooding problems during rainy seasons often times lead to the loss of properties and lives as well as contribute to the stalling of movement especially in Okitipupa, Igbokoda, Ore, Ikare, Ondo, Owo, Akure, and many other areas with serious negative implications on the residents’ socio-economic activities.

The governor said that it became necessary to acquire a new Amphibious Excavator as the old one that was bought in 2015 had become faulty and inefficient in tackling the flood challenges currently faced in different parts of the state.
Governor Akeredolu justified his acquisition of this new Amphibious Excavator by reminding everyone of the recent NiMet (Nigerian Metrological Agency) forecasts that predicts intensive rainfall to be expected across Ondo state in this year 2019.
