Motorists and residents of Ikot Oku Ikono community in Akwa Ibom state were highly elated by the newly completed flyover bridge that was recently commissioned by ex-Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo. The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel invited Chief Obasanjo to commission the completed flyover bridge in the Ikot Oku Ikono area of Uyo, the state capital.

According to media reports, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said he is really happy to see that Governor Udom Emmanuel did not disappoint him for giving his support during the second term bid campaigns. Chief Obasanjo also praised Governor Udom Emmanuel for applying his financial expertise in managing the resources of Akwa Ibom state to execute praise-worthy projects like the flyover bridge.

During the commissioning of this new flyover bridge in Uyo, the state governor – Udom Emmanuel also described ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo as the “father” of Nigeria. The governor particularly thanked God for giving the wisdom, idea and creativity that has been applied in the process of executing the flyover bridge project at a time of economic recession and a pandemic. Governor Udom Emmanuel also thanked the Ikot Oku Ikono community for supporting his administration all through the project execution. He promised to rehabilitate all other “diversions” in the community within the next one month while he also assured that 3 new electricity transformers will be donated to the area within that time period as well.
