A sad report reaching us recently has it that one Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim who is 75-year old has been killed in Katsina state by one of the vehicles in the convoy of Brig-General W.B Idris – the commander of 17 Brigade, Nigeria Army in Katsina. Press reports claim that this accident occurred within Katsina metropolis around the Mani House Junction.

According to press reports by THISDAY, eyewitnesses claimed that the deceased old man was actually headed for Kofar Kaura where he was to visit some family members and share wedding invitation cards to them.
One of the eyewitnesses whose name is Aliyu Abdulkadir said that the deceased was hit by one of the cars from the Army commander’s convoy when he stopped at Mani Junction to share invitation cards for his daughter’s wedding. The 75-year old man reportedly died at the spot of the accident instantly after being hit by the vehicle.

This incident has now been confirmed in a recent press statement that was issued by Colonel Sagir Musa, the acting Director of Public relations for the Nigerian Army. According to Colonel Musa, this sad incident occurred within a short time when the Convoy vehicles went for refueling while the Army commander was waiting for them to come back and pick him up. Colonel Musa also told the press that the Brigade commander alongside other Nigerian Army delegates have paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased old man.
