Ogun State police have issued a warning against covering vehicle number plates with political party stickers
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi has revealed that many politicians often use political party stickers to cover their plate numbers. He highlighted that every vehicle plying Ogun State roads must be identifiable by the attached number plate. The police spokesman warned that covering a vehicle number plate simply hints that such motorist has “criminal” intentions. To this effect, he warned everyone that is fond of that bad habit to correct their error from now on.

The spokesperson of Ogun State police has revealed that police officers in the state have been notified about the covering number plates. He stated that Police DPOs and Area commanders have now been instructed to begin a clampdown on violators of the new warning. SP Abimbola Oyeyemi highlighted that there is no provision in Nigerian traffic laws for the covering of vehicle number plates with political stickers. As a matter of fact, he went on to say that even ordinary stickers are not allowed to be placed on top of any vehicle number plate. Therefore, the police will be right to arrest anyone caught doing such a thing. The Ogun State police spokesperson promised that anyone caught in the act will be punished according to the law. And the warning is meant for both politicians and regular individuals who often cover their plate numbers with stickers.
